Asia Herb Association: Probably the Best Spa in Bangkok!
Barely a week from a fruitful Bangkok trip, my body continues to reap the benefits from a 90-minute herbal press body massage by Asia Herb Association. There is no doubt that among Bangkok's many spas-- to include those located in five-star hotels-- Asia Herb Association is one of the golden city's best!
My best friend and I visited this massage haven upon the recommendation of a friend. We visited the first shop/branch of Asia Herb Association along Sukhumvit Road Soi 24. After three days of non-stop walking, talking, and shopping, we thought some serious rest and relaxation was more than well-deserved. Getting there was not a problem as we took the BTS Skytrain (Sukhumvit Line) towards On Nut and alighted at the Phrom Phong station. It was only a minute or two away from the inviting sight featured in the photo below.
Asia Herb Association's most recommended spa services include the massages with herbal press. The 90-minute Thai massage with herbal press only cost us 650 baht. That is only about 950 pesos at the most. After 45 minutes of Thai massage and stretching, the remaining time is spent dabbing your entire body (yes, including your head) with Asia Herb Association's handmade herbal presses boiled in hot water. It is essentially similar to a hot compress, with the added benefit of a special herb mixture that effectively soothes tired, aching, and stressed muscles. That was one experience my best friend and I will never forget and one that is truly blog-worthy. :)
If you would like to take a souvenir home with you from Bangkok, I suggest Asia Herb Association's herbal press. Featuring a traditional mix of galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime, turmeric, and mint, these herbal presses work wonders not only to your body but also to your breathing. My allergic rhinitis was relieved by the scent of these herbs. It's difficult not to be lured into purchasing from their store. The photo below will explain why.
Asia Herb Association is open from 9:00AM to 2:00AM in the morning. You can call them for reservations to avoid the long wait. This massage joint is frequented by Japanese and Koreans and they are always fully booked. Oh, and before I forget, their complimentary lemongrass tea is very very good! :)
